According to legend, this hill was once the abode of the sage Valmiki, the revered author of the Ramayana. It’s said that Sita, wife of Lord Rama, gave birth to her twin sons, Lava and Kusha, at Avani.  The hill is also believed to be the site where Sita performed the Ashwamedha Yagna.  connection to the Lava-Kusha legend.
